[ A seminar at BRH ]
jul. 1, 2010
Mari Toyama
The seminar about "Evolution & Diversity of Fishes" was held in BRH on June 24. Five speakers presented their works and ideas in English. If you would like to know their summary of presentation, please see the below sites.

"Revealing the mechanisms of rostral shift of pelvic fins among teleost fishes"

"Evolution of Myogenesis: Insights from the Lamprey"

"Analysis of Social behaviors in Adult Medaka Fish"

"Genetic mechanisms underlying stickleback speciation" [PDF:112KB]

"Zebrafish and the evolution of sex determination mechanisms"

It was very interesting to hear the story of "Evolution & Diversity of Fishes" at the same time from various angles, such as behavior, genetics, development and so on. Before the seminar, I also had a chance to guide our exhibitions to researchers. And they pointed out not only nice expressions but also contents with various theories such as evolution from fin to hand. A seminar like this one is held at BRH several times a year, and these are chances for me to get new ideas for editing the Journal, making an exhibition, movie, goods and so on. So, I enjoy myself to communicate with many researchers.

 Special News
- The issue of Biohistory Journal Special International Edition 2005 -
Since we started “We at BRH” to share a part of our activities in English, we faced it was very difficult. Yet we continue to try because we’d like to share real BRH works with people in the world! So recently, we made a BRH information card in English. Get the Biohistory Journal Special International Edition 2005 and you can know what Biohistory Research Hall is and what we are doing there. We are very happy if you can have fun with it because BRH is a place for those who are interested in thinking about the living creatures. That is why it is called “the Hall” instead of institute, just like a concert hall.
It is FREE with nice quality!
