Since their beginning about 3,8 billion years ago, living things on earth have continued to thrive and diversify. Diversity occurs and is maintained through a mutual connection among living things on earth. That connection is called symbiosis when we think about it in terms of the environment, and it is called co-evolution when we think about it in terms of time axis.

The main focus of biohistory research at the JT Biohistory Research Hall has been on studying the connection between ontogenesis and phylogenesis. And now, we have added the ecological view, and as a result, studies of symbiosis and co-evolution have begun. These studies are studies of co-evolution entitled Figs & Fig-wasp and Butterflies & host plants. These are very interesting studies through which you can experience what the identity of living things are all about.
