The life of the Asian swallowtail

The butterfly tastes with the legs first

Butterfly larvae eat only certain plants. The Asian swallowtail eats the leaves of Mandarin oranges, while the luehdorfia eats only the wild ginger. We are conducting research because we believe we can unravel the story of butterfly speciation if we study the response between the mechanism for recognizing the leaf and the substance in the leaf that stimulates spawning.
