A beetle’s crawl through history

Ground beetles cannot fly. But, through their DNA, they can tell us much about not only their own evolution, but also the formation of the Japanese archipelago (islands).
This research marks the first full-scale inquiry into relationships between the evolutionary histories of differing species and tectonic (continental) drift.
Nature includes the Earth itself, and nature includes the creatures that dwell on the Earth. It is important to view them together.
