Butterfly Nursery

There are insect gardens in this world, and of course botanical gardens too. But back in 2003 there were no butterfly nurseries, at least not of which we were aware. So we made one of our own, on a 12-square meter patch on our roof. Lantana, thistle, buddleja – a variety of flowers invite butterflies to come and partake of their nectar. Butterflies lay their eggs on mandarin orange, Aristolochia, Oxalis and other leaves that will provide their offspring with nourishment and a place to grow.​
